Coach The Paschal Varsity Wrestling team is off to a good start, despite not yet being at full strength. Our duel meet record is 4 – 1, and we recently placed 6th out of 25 teams in the prestigious 25th Annual Tri-State Tournament at Lake Highland High School. In that tournament, Matt Parker took 2nd place at 215 lbs, Alec Baker placed 3rd at Heavyweight, James Anderson won 4th at 189 lbs, while other wrestlers picked up a substantial number of points in the consolation bracket. Among them was Alex Key, who earned three wins in the tournament. In Junior Varsity
action, our future appears bright as Heavyweight Jeremy Lopez and 215
pounder Bulmaro Gomez won championships. Daniel Watson (125) and Kevin
Nguyen (103) took 2nd place, while Rohit Chauhan (140) and
Daniel Reiling (180) finished 3rd. Leading the way in individual varsity records are Matt Parker (defending his All State status) with 9 wins against 1 loss. Alec Baker, who is wrestling heavyweight at a light but muscular 220 pounds, is 9 – 3. Alex Key is 9 – 4 and James Anderson is 10 – 4. Others Panthers with winning records include: Connor Curtis (8 – 5), Brandon Bito (5 – 4) Jesse Hernandez (5 – 3), Frankie Martinez (3 – 2), Jonathan Withers (7 – 4), Spencer Key (5 – 3), and Travoy McCarver (2 – 0). |
