The Purple Pride was well represented in the City Championship last Wed. at McCleland Tennis Ctr. All Fort Worth ISD high schools were there. Mixed Doubles Lauren and Reid did very well this day for Paschal winning their 1st 2 matches. Jill and Clair played well together as usual. Tim had a good day as well. John and Cooper started out real good in their Boys Doubles but then a nagging injury to Cooper's elbow took its toll and sidelined him. Get well soon, Cooper. We need you.
At the end of the day, however, it was the Girls B Doubles Emily Dewar and Elizabeth Ellis that hung in there and beat their 1st opponent mercilessly, then outsmarted and outplayed Arlington Heights in their second match to get into the finals where they rallyed from behind with an excellent strategy against Western Hills to win the 1st place City Championship medal. The following Tues. was the District Meet hosted by Burleson High at their beautiful, 1st class tennis complex. As usual, Sai did well by winning his 1st 2 matches (the 2nd was Abilene). then he suffered a loss to an old friend from North Crowley High. He still advances to Wed.,day 2. Good luck, Sai. Reid and Lauren also played well enough to advance to day 2. Good Luck! The Brunette Bombers, Jill and Clair, won their early match but then lost a close one to Burleson's girls. darn. Girls Doubles team Emily and Elizabeth battled Weatherford 1st and got the win. Then their luck ran out as they drew Abilene for their 2nd match, and for you fans that dont know, Abilene Eagles takes their tennis VERY seriously. game over. Abilene won almost every match they played all day. FYI, Elizabeth will play singles on Saturday in a USTA Tournament at the Coppell Tennis Center. Good luck Ellis
