Hazel Harvey Peace Scholarship Fund:  http://hhpscholarshipfund.org This is awarded to an African-American Senior Graduating from a high school in the Tarrant County school districts and is a descendent of an I.M. Terrell graduate and submit a completed application by the Deadline of April 1st. Applicants may obtain an application form after February 1 from their high school counselor's office or online. 

The Texas Telephone Association Foundation Scholarship

The Texas Telephone Association Foundation Scholarship:  http://www.tta.org/pdf/2012scholarshipinfo.pdf   deadline is March 12, 2012. The Texas Telephone Association Foundation (TTAF), a nonprofit, philanthropic organization founded to help further the understanding of telephony and advance telecommunications as a career choice, will award six, fouryear scholarships, in the amount of $1,500 per year to students entering college for the 20122013 school year.

Scholarship for Seniors whose family has been or is affected by cancer.

The applications are due April 1st. The minimum award will be $1000. They are looking for students who will go to college in Texas maintain a 2.7 as the scholarship is renewable.

Hispanic Debutante Association of Fort Worth‏

The Hispanic Debutante Association of Fort Worth established in 1985 is celebrating the 28th year in existence!!  The organization primarily focuses on helping students earn scholarship money for college. 

o    It is a year long program in which students will be asked to attend one meeting a month as well as a couple of fundraisers per year.  (Students can continue to participate in the program after their first year of debut. 

o    Students can remain active in the association for years and continue to get financial assistance beyond Bachelor's degrees.

o    Guest speakers share information about college applications, financial aid, etc. 

o    There is a focus on promoting cultural awareness. 

o    The highlight is the Annual Debutante Ball in which the students and their parents are formally presented (a formal event, etiquette, appropriate attire, etc. great lessons).

o    Students network with community leaders is encouraged.

 

Application and requirements can be obtained in the counseling center or download here. Teachers have also been sent the information as well.  Please help identify students that may qualify and be interested in the program.

The Honors College at The University of Texas at Arlington and Freshmen Scholarships Available

The Honors College

The Honors College at the University of Texas at Arlington is a community of exceptionally capable and highly motivated undergraduates who seek the excitement and stimulation of a major urban university along with the individual attention provided in honors courses. The College promotes creative inquiry among students and faculty within a challenging academic environment.  Students enroll in multidisciplinary courses, seminars and colloquia, and pursue internship, service learning and study abroad experiences designed to extend their academic experiences beyond the classroom. The College sponsors lecture series, regional field trips and other scholarly and social events that complement the academic program.

 Requirements for Admission

Honors College admission is competitive. Honors candidates must fulfill at least one of the following criteria to be eligible to apply:

· Entering Freshmen:

            A combined Critical Reading and Math SAT score of 1200

An ACT composite score of 27

            Upper 10% of H.S. graduating class

· Currently enrolled or transfer students:

            At least a 3.35 GPA.

Admission, however, is not based solely on grades or scores. The Admissions Committee looks for evidence in the application of strong analytic and imaginative abilities. Candidates submit a résumé of activities as well as an essay.

Freshmen Scholarship Opportunities

Honors Distinction Scholarship (deadline: February 15, 2012)

It is a merit-based and high competitive four-year renewable $20,000 scholarship available to Honors College entering freshmen ONLY.

Eligibility and Maintenance:

  • Minimum SAT score of 1300 (CR & M), or ACT composite score of 30
  • Admission to both UT Arlington and the Honors College by February 15, 2012
  • Achieve an overall 3.35 GPA by the end of the freshman year and an overall 3.5 GPA thereafter through graduation 
  • Complete at least 30 credit hours per year, at least 6 of which should be in Honors
  • Reside in UT Arlington residence hall for at least the freshman and sophomore years

 

Robert D. Riley Scholarship (deadline: April 6, 2012)

Four-year renewable $4,000 scholarship is available for honors or non-honors entering freshmen who display a high level of academic aptitude. 

Eligibility and Maintenance:

  • Maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.
  • A US citizen or permanent legal resident and a resident of Texas. 
  • Enroll in a minimum of 12 UT Arlington credit hours per semester (at least 24 hours total for the spring and fall semesters).
  • Submission of an annual thank you letter to the donor, Mr. Robert D. Riley.

Seniors, as you begin to receive your acceptance letters to college and community college IF you are offered a scholarship of any amount even to a college you do not plan to attend PLEASE report this to the counseling center. Historically Paschal has been the leader in scholarship offers in FWISD. We need to begin keeping a count of your scholarship offers. Go 2012 Panthers!

College Recruiters Visiting

Several College Recruiters will be at Paschal next week. If you would like to meet with any of these representatives, go by the Counseling Office to sign up for these on clip board and you will be sent a pass to leave class for the presentation.  College Reps are being scheduled frequently so keep checking the clip board and the Sr Website.
